Butte High School Class of '79
20-Year Reunion Details
April 1999
Let the good times roll! Here's a rundown of events:
Friday, August 6:
Registration Party at McGrath Barn in Brown's Gulch. 6:30 p.m. to ??
The barn is a brand new facility built especially for parties. We can play volleyball or horseshoes, hang out on the balconies, even stoke up a bonfire for old time's sake. We've hired a D.J. to play old favorites and a bus to shuttle us safely back and forth. There'll be a no-host bar and plenty of Mexican hors 'd oeuvres. Dress: casual. Kids: not allowed. Parents: relax and enjoy for a change! Cost: $10/person
Saturday, August 7:
Daytime options:
See enclosed flyer for golf tournament details, and send golf registration form and payment directly to Bob Kilmer by June 1. Butte High School tour is tentatively set for 2 p.m. Volleyball will start around 1:30 or 2 at the McQueen Club (on Hecla Street off Continental Drive) and will extend to nearby courts if need be. Please check your interests on the registration form so we'll have a rough estimate of how many to expect. Thanks!
Evening of Saturday, August 7:
Banquet at the Copper King Inn (now Ramada Inn-Copper King). 6 p.m. to ??
No-host bar opens at 6. Group picture will be taken at 6:30, and everyone attending will be mailed a copy. Buffet dinner follows at 7 and features Prime Rib, Baked Halibut, and Chicken Cordon Bleu. Music starts around 9. King Friday, a lively rock 'n roll dance band, will get us jumping around! Cost: $24/person
Sunday, August 8:
Family barbecue picnic at Clark's Park. Noon to ??
Clark's Park is on Florence Street behind Harrison Avenue. It's home to the old playground equipment from the Columbia Gardens, including the cowboy swings. We'll have games and prizes for the kids and serve hot dogs, burgers, salads and cake. Pop will be supplied, but BYOB if you want something more. Also bring blankets and lawn chairs if you can, so we won't have to haul quite as many tables and chairs. Thanks! Cost: $8/adult; children of class members free.
Lodging:
Ramada Inn-Copper King offers discount.
Rooms are available for $75/night double occupancy (regular rate is $84). To get that rate, mention our reunion and make reservations at least 30 days in advance by calling 1-800-332-8600 or 406-494-6666. If we book all 33 rooms around the pool, our Saturday night party can stay at poolside all night. If not, we'll move to a big conference room for the dance part. No matter where you stay, make reservations early because the weekend is shaping up to be a busy one for Butte.
Cost:
Same as it was 10 years ago! $42 for both nights and Sunday.
Despite inflation, we managed to hold reunion costs steady. (Our secret is leftover funds from last time.)
Payment:
If possible, please send in your registration and payment before June 10.
The less paperwork we have to do on registration night, the more fun we'll all have, so if you can pay ahead, please do. A $10, non-refundable late fee will apply to all payments received after June 10.
Memorabilia:
Embroidered reunion-logo shirts and hats available.
Be sure to check out the order form for reunion shirts and hats on the back of the registration form. The shirts are light gray and the hats, khaki. To order, complete the form and then transfer your total to the front. All orders must be prepaid in full and will be ready for pick-up Friday night.
Wanted: Memories and Award Nominations
No reunion is complete without some collective reminiscing and the bestowal of a few silly awards for furthest traveled, most kids, etc., etc. As your contribution to the Saturday night banquet program, please enclose with your registration:
Don't hesitate to nominate yourself for an award since you know better than anyone else what you've been up to these past 20 years.
Also feel free to pass along favorite jokes, anecdotes, hard-won words of wisdom.... Let's have some fun with this and make it a widespread class effort!
